Michael Steven Phoenix CSM, Ret.

Michael Steven Phoenix, CSM Ret., 65, of Shawsville, marched to his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Fred Phoenix; mother, Lucille Francisco; and a brother, David Phoenix. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Virginia (Jenny) B. Phoenix; step-mother, Ingrid Phoenix; brother, Kenny Phoenix; sisters, Debra Taylor, Doris Stanger, and Patty Heiser; children, Loren Robertson, Tazwell Phoenix, Sheila Goss, Jacob Trump, Sara McIntosh, and Adam Phoenix; grandchildren, Logan Robertson, Taryn Robertson, Kyle Phoenix, Cameron Phoenix, Joshua Meador, Kelseigh Meador, Mason Bland, Sydney McIntosh, and Abigail McIntosh; great-grandchild, Natalyn Meador; as well as many friends, including best friend, Jim Lane.
Not only was Steve a dedicated American soldier, proudly serving his country, he was a faithful, loving husband, Dad, Paw Paw, and a loyal friend.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 12, 2015, from 3-6 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Auburn Baptist Church, with Pastor Shake Smith officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Shawsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 14, Shawsville, VA 24162.
