Myrtle McCoy, 90, of Appomattox, passed away on June 13, 2016. She was an avid quilter and loved to fish; was a devoted member of the Appomattox Assembly of God, as well as being a member of The Eastern Star. Myrtle worked until she was 82.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elsie Fain; husband, Leslie Byron McCoy; grandson, Alan McCoy; and many brothers and sisters. Myrtle is survived by her children, Katherine McCoy Featherston, Byron A. McCoy and wife Bonnie W., Daniel R. McCoy and wife Sandy, and David McCoy; grandchildren, Patricia McCoy Kessler and husband Keith, Brian McCoy and wife Tracy, Megan Madison, Melissa Blanton, Shawn Pope; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Jacob, and Katelyn McCoy, Reagan Davis, Tori Kessler, and Rachel Kessler; sisters, Elsie Cox and Libby Harrison; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Rodney Blank officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
