Nancy Johnston Epperly, 81, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 16, 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Harvey; son-in-law, Jim McNeil; granddaughter, Jessica Marinoble; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Isabelle, and Josiah Marinoble, all of Richmond.
Nancy is also survived by her sisters, Evelyn Sarver and Alice Simmons; brothers-in-law, Jerry Epperly and Eddie Walters; and sister-in-law, Lois Epperly, all of Christiansburg; and a sister-in-law, Jenny Hylton, of Bluefield, WV. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Drema and C.L. Bishop, of Christiansburg. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dewey E. Epperly.
Nancy retired from ATK (formerly Hercules, Inc.) in 1998 with more than 32 years of service. Upon retirement, she spent her time gardening, cooking, feeding the hummingbirds, and walking. She loved showing visitors her flowers and her vegetable garden and was always willing to share her plants with others. She also loved cooking big meals and encouraging everyone else to have “seconds”. She loved her family and her friends - her granddaughter and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy!
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel immediately following the visitation with Pastor Jerry Dowdy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christiansburg Fire Department or Rescue Squad, American Cancer Society-Relay for Life, or the ALZ Association-Richmond Chapter.
