Naomi Macel Stone

Naomi Macel Stone, 80, of Christiansburg, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 22, 2016, surrounded by her family at the home she loved dearly. Macel (as she was known) was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, friend, and a true example of a strong Christian woman.

A West Virginia native, Macel was preceded in death by her parents, Lundie and Mary Bragg; her beloved daughter, Sharon Shomaker; and brothers, Herndon Bragg and Donald Bragg. Left to cherish her sweet memory are her husband of 56 years, Marshall ‘Bunny’ Stone; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Teresa Stone, with children Jennifer and Emily Stone and granddaughters Chelsey Hall and Zoie Stone; son, Willard Stone with son Tyler Stone and grandson Tipton Stone; daughter, Kimberly McDaniel with children Tara Harris and granddaughter Savannah Harris; daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Matt Moses with daughters Alyssa Bland and Mia Moses; grandson and wife Brian and Jennifer Sowers with children Alesha Sharp, Amber and Mikayla Sowers and granddaughter Chloey Sharp; brother, Richard Bragg and family; sister, Barbara Gilbert and family; step-brothers and step-sisters, Dale Bragg, Oral Bragg, Sue Dickerson, Phyllis Self, and Wanda Showalter; the family at Bible Baptist Church; as well as other extended family and friends.

Macel was a proud graduate of New River Community College with an Administration Degree, retired from Imperial Reading Cooperation, and a faithful, long time member of Bible Baptist Church in Christiansburg.

The family wants to send special thanks to Carilion Home Health and Carilion Hospice Care, especially Nicole, Heather and Melissa; who not only helped Macel but were our heroes as well.
Another special thanks to our night time nurse, Heather who, after taking care of Sharon so amazingly, came on to stay with Macel as well.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Wells and Rev. Dusty Etter officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
