Nicholas Tyler Dean, known to all who loved him as 'Nic', took his final breath and left the world a darker place on April 28th, 2021, at the young age of 20 years and 6 days, due to an accidental drug overdose. Nic was born April 22, 2001, in Christiansburg, VA. He was a 2019 graduate of Christiansburg High School, where he played lacrosse. Nic was employed by Wal-Mart and had attended New River Community College. His true friends and family will remember him as funny, smart, and loyal to the end. They will make it their mission to ensure that Nic is remembered for his heart and kindness to others, not for the struggle he endured over the last 8 months.
Nic is survived by his parents Rhonda Baldwin (Christiansburg) and James Dean (Max Meadows), sister Rylie Dean (Christiansburg), Grammy Regina Baldwin (Morristown, TN), Papaw and Mamaw Joe and Tootie Dean (N Tazewell, VA). Nic also leaves behind his yappy sidekick Mia, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him unconditionally. Nic was preceded in death by his Gramps George Baldwin.
Nic loved nothing more than hanging out with his friends playing video games, fishing, or simply listening to music and laughing. The memory of his smile, quick wit, and funny disposition will never be forgotten. Our broken hearts will forever feel the loss and emptiness of his absence. The day Nic died, a part of us died along with him. We will miss him every day for the rest of our lives. The pain of his senseless death is heartbreaking and intolerable, which is why stories like Nic's should not be ignored but shared in the hope that others may not experience this tragedy.
Services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 6 pm at Blue Ridge Church, 1655 Roanoke St., Christiansburg, VA 24073. Honorary Pallbearers are Nathaniel Meredith, Caleb Mullins, Colin O’Brien, Kevin Shaver, Gage Tickle and Ben Williams.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nic’s name can be made to the New River Valley Lacrosse Club.
