DUNCAN, Ollie Akers, 93 of Christiansburg, passed away, Friday, July 3, 2009.
She was born in Floyd, County Virginia. The daughter to the Late Zebrum and Minnie Reed Akers. She was also preceded in death by her husband; Elbert Alvis Duncan, brother; Harvey Akers, sisters; Effie Fisher, Ruby Akers Dupris, Toye Marie Akers, Edath and Elisha Duncan and brother-in-law; James Earl Gathercole.
She is survived by her sister; Erma Gathercole of Salem, niece and nephew; Sandra and Gary Arnold of Greenville, S.C., great nephew; Jarred Arnold and his wife; Kim, great-great nephew and niece, Collin and Hannah Arnold. Also surviving are many other nieces, nephews and special friends; R.B. Duncan, and Charlie Wayne Miles both of Christiansburg.
The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Don Peters and Rev. R. Douglas Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
