Owen Emelyn Linkous

January 18, 1933 — October 24, 2017

Owen Emelyn Linkous, 84, of Christiansburg, passed away on October 24, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ester Linkous; brothers, Corbett and Marvel Linkous; and sister, Zelma Stevens.

Owen is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Pauline Linkous; daughter, Kim Martin; two grandchildren, Kevin Martin and Allyson Martin; sister, Sally Sheppard; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Owen worked in his family owned Bill’s Barber Shop for over 45 years, where he enjoyed talking and joking with his friends and customers. He was a long time member of the Izaak Walton League, the Christiansburg Hunting Club, and Oak Grove Church. Owen enjoyed spending his summers with his grandchildren at Covey’s Campground and Claytor Lake, riding golf carts and fishing. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing softball. He was the best husband, dad and granddad anyone could ask for and will be greatly missed by his family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 27, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Kingrea officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
