Paul Tyron Kennedy, Sr. of Childress and formerly of Coeburn, Virginia, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 8, 2012. He was born on February 8, 1952, in Coeburn to Paul and Celia Kennedy.
Paul overcame many obstacles, demons and roadblocks in his life to become the loving and caring man we all know and love today. He worked 20 years at Yokahoma Tire (formerly Mowhawk Rubber) in Salem. Paul went on to become a truck driver and drove many years all over the U.S. and Canada. He later became the Safety and Quality Control Supervisor for Iron Tiger Logistics in Dublin, Virginia, a job he dearly loved and a job he provided his everlasting devotion.
He met the love of his life, Faye Draper Kennedy, 30 wonderful years ago, whom he married in 1985. He raised her children, Angela and Leslie, and was a dear, loving and devoted father to them. They in return, loved him as if he were their own natural father. He had two sons, Buddy and Eric, from a previous marriage that he loved as well. He was a loving husband whose goal he said was “to be the best husband and to make Faye happy”, which he truly did. He was a loving and devoted grandfather and great-grandfather who loved and was so loved in return.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul W. Kennedy; and a step-daughter, Angela Bane Tuck.
