Pauline McNeil Pitsinger

February 13, 1924 — December 27, 2015

Pauline McNeil Pitsinger, 91, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2015.

Born February 13, 1924 to the late Everette and LeNora Flinchum McNeil in Pilot, Montgomery County, Va. She was married in 1944 to Robert E. Shelton of the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. In 1947 that marriage was blessed with a daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Shelton McDonald. In 1964, she had a second marriage to the Reverend Barney Pitsinger. They enjoyed 25 years of marriage and serving United Methodist Churches in Virginia.

She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Shelton McDonald; grandson, Tommy McDonald and wife Roseann; granddaughter, Beth McDonald Pippin and husband Ray; five great grandchildren, Tripp Pippin, Savannah McDonald, Hayes Pippin, Charlie McDonald, and Nash Pippin; sisters and sisters-in-law, Clover Ratcliffe, Lois Sedlacek (Ron), Gloria McNeil and Ocie McNeil; brothers and brother-in-law, Alvin McNeil (Betty),Carl McNeil (Julie) and William Morgan. Also surviving are step-daughters, Ann Gass and Joy Smith (Alvin); and step-grandson, Barry Gass. Preceding her in death are Rev. Barney Pitsinger; sisters, Ailene Sowers, Margie Allman, and Ada Mae Morgan; brothers, Aaron McNeil, Raymond McNeil, and Junior McNeil.

Pauline was a certified Dental assistant in both Roanoke and Christiansburg. After marrying Rev. Pitsinger they served all over Southwest Virginia in the First United Methodist Church. Pauline loved being a minister's wife and a servant for the Lord. She never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. Mrs. Pitsinger was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Christiansburg, VA and an active member in Sunday school and United Methodist Women. She had many friends in Christiansburg and the Holston Conference and the Virginia Conference.

Funeral Services will be a visitation on Wednesday Dec. 30, 2015 from 12:30-2 pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Christiansburg, VA and a celebration of her life to follow at 2 pm. Interment will be after the service in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, VA.

Contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Christiansburg, VA, Bradley Free Clinic, The Rescue Mission, and the Alzheimer's/Dementia Rotarian Action Group.
