Pearl Irene Thompson, of Christiansburg, passed on peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November 29, 2012. She was 97 years of age, born on December 20, 1914. We were all looking forward to celebrating her 98th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Gold Thompson; 2 sons, Kenneth and Johnny Thompson; and a daughter, Mary Jones.
Precious memories of Mom will live in many whose lives she touched, especially her family of 3 daughters, Corrine Vaughn, Betty & C.B. Linkous, and Winki & Bud Akers; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Altizer, Imogene Teel, Ida Mae Bishop and Jackie Shelton.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 5-7 pm at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 2nd at 2 pm in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Raymond Goad officiating. Interment will follow in the Thompson Family Cemetery, Floyd County.
