A memorial service for Peggy Opengari will be held 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Christ Episcopal Church, Blacksburg, celebrated by the Rev. Anne West with reception to follow. Arrangements by Horne Funeral and Cremation Service, Christiansburg, Va.
Peggy (Spiegel) Opengari, 68, of Pearisburg, Va., died at her home of pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Her husband, Bill Opengari; and her children, Lee, Grady, and Phyllis; her daughters-in-law, Robbie, Susan and Lora; son-in-law, Lee; her brother, John Holland; her sisters, Carol Holland and Elaina Dulaney and grandchildren, Stephan, Will, Jake, Holland, Mason, Morgan, Sabrina, Avery, and Katherine, are blessed beyond measure for the gifts of love, laughter, intellect, and her passion for nature, that she gave to them all.
Peggy was predeceased by her first husband, Grady Spiegel.She lwas the founder and owner for 15 years of For the Birds in Roanoke.
In lieu of flowers, Peggy requests donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church, Pearisburg or the Nature Conservancy.
