The greatest man who ever lived in our world, Ralph James Edward Rose, Sr. went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 2, 2019.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Rosanah Rose; sisters, Edith Coleman, Minerva Kell, Betty Spangler; and brother, John Rose.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 55 years; children, Ralph James Edward Rose, Jr. (Rhonda), Roger Dale Rose (Robin), Robin Rose Howell (Roger); grandchildren, Joshua (Tori) Willis, Candise (Nate) Hiner, Kelsey (Andrew) Clark, Brandon (Amber) Rose, Virginia (Kenny) Burnette, Curtis Howell, Abby Rose, Hannah Rose, Crystal Rose, Cassey Pruitt, Jon Pruitt; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Cadence, Wyatt, Phoebe, Annabelle, Arayna, Gracie, Paige, Addison, Aubry, Athena, Aria, Paisleigh, Oakley; as well as step-great grandchildren, Christopher, Kaylee, Makala, Jase, Aiden, Kaylee, Chasity, Joseph, and Natalie.
Ralph served in the Virginia National Guard, from January 26, 1963 as a Platoon Sergeant Det.1 Co. B 1 Bn 116 Inf 29th ID. He volunteered at Shawsville Rescue Squad where he joined in September 1969- October 1984. He worked for City of Salem from 1969-1999 Ralph started as Truck Driver making 2.50 a hour and worked his way through the ranks as Welder and then Crew Supervisor. Also work for ConRock after his retirement for approximately 7 years delivering concrete and working in their store.
Ralph loved the outdoors, love hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. He also loved to help others whenever he could. As many have told me over the past few days “Ralph was a good person, inside and out” and this is so true, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
