AKERS, RICKY DEAN, 46, of Christiansburg, passed away at his home on January 27, 2005.
He was preceeded in death by his father Solomon Willie Akers and stepfather Cecil Burns.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jo Ann Akers; two sons, Eric L Akers and Joshua Akers; mom, Lucille Slusher Bolding, of Boaz, Al; brother and sister-in-law, Burman "Skip" and Mary Akers, of Boaz, Al; mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Martha Phillips, of Christiansburg; six nieces and nephews; two great nephews; two special cousins, Star Boling and Donna Kitts Thornton; many special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be at Horne Funeral Home on Saturday January 29th from 4-7 p.m. The Funeral Services will be at New Hope Church of God on Sunday January 30th at 2 p.m. with Pastor T. Michael Bond officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Harry McCoy, Dr. Alex Tan, Dr. J. Randall Smith, their staffs and Carilion Hospice staff. The Akers family is being served by Horne Funeral Service.
