Robert Dove

Robert Lee Dove, 78, of Christiansburg, went to receive his eternal reward in heaven on December 8, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Taylor Dove and Virginia Jones Dove; son, Frazier Lee Dove; and by his sister, Doris Dove Minnick. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Melissa Dove; daughter, Loretta Howell and husband John; granddaughters, Gloria Allen and husband Alton, and Melissa Newby; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Poff, Jacob Allen, and Justin Allen; siblings, Shelby McKinney and husband Thomas Newson, all of Christiansburg, Linda Usry of Thomson, GA, J.T. Dove and wife Carolyn, Diana Dove and husband Phillip Shuford, all of Christiansburg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Bob was a devoted husband and father. He was loved by many people in the community and served the community in various jobs through the years. His wit and sense of humor was admired and enjoyed by many.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ed Gallimore officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
