Robert Chapman Dowdy

Robert Chapman Dowdy, 86, of Christiansburg, Va. passed away on
Friday, January 5, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Mildred Dowdy, of
Christiansburg; granddaughter, Ashley Dowdy, of Blacksburg; brothers,
Posey L. Dowdy and Marshall (Jack) W. Linkous; sisters, Kathleen
Melton, Thelma (Tootsie) Hutchison, and Hazel Reed.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene (Jo) Wood Dowdy; sons,
Robert Michael Dowdy and wife Kathy of Blacksburg, Gary Lynn Dowdy and
friend Misty of Christiansburg; grandson, Joshua Dowdy of
Christiansburg; great-grandsons, Mason, Max and Maddox of Roanoke;
and sisters, Margaret Gearheart and Magdalene Harris.

Robert served in the United States Army in the Korean War - he proudly
served from 1952-1954. Robert loved time outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed farming and will be missed by so many.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the Horne
Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Otto Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home 2 hours prior to the Service.
