Robert “Bob” Buford Martin, 61, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away peacefully in his home, leaving this world to forever be with the Savior he faithfully served, July 19, 2012, at 9:43 a.m.
He was the owner and founder of Blue Ridge Heating & Air in Christiansburg. He was a member, deacon, Sunday school teacher and also served as interim Pastor of the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church. He enjoyed fishing, his collection of antique cars and riding his motorcycles. He loved his family, life and enjoyed God’s creation. He was a wonderful Christian example, whose life had a profound impact on everyone who met him.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Buford Martin; mother, Myrtle Dollie Owens Martin; and sisters, Nancy Stanger and Patricia Ratliff.
His memory will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Brenda Smith Martin; his beloved sons, Bobby D. & Wanda Martin, J. Dewayne & Sue Ellen Martin, all of Christiansburg, and Johnny L. & Tonya Martin of Narrows, VA; grandchildren, Ashley & Jonathan Custer, Amber & Kevin Smith, Sarah Martin, Tyler Martin, and Madison Martin; one great-grandchild, Lilah Sue Custer; and a sister, Pamela M. Taylor.
A celebration honoring his life will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at 11 am at Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church Gym, “The Carpenter Shop”, in Shawsville, VA, with Pastor Wes Conner officiating. A graveside service will follow at their family cemetery in Carroll County, VA, with Pastor Wayne Linkous officiating that service.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church Gym, “The Carpenter Shop”, Shawsville.
