Robert Ratcliffe

October 12, 1929 — April 24, 2012

Robert “Bob” Raymond Ratcliffe, Sr., of Pilot, went to be with Jesus, whom he faithfully served while here, on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was born on October 12, 1929 to Waddy and Nannie Ratcliffe.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, his best friend, Clover McNeil Ratcliffe. Also surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Bob Poff; and Kathy and Bill Poff; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert R., Jr. “Zeke” and Cindy Ratcliffe; his grandsons and granddaughters Robbie Poff and wife, Kristal; Laura Ratcliffe, Kaci Ratcliffe and Robert W. Ratcliffe.

He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, George and Dorothy Ratcliffe; his sisters and brother-in-law, Sue and George Kouzoures and Nancy Altice; sisters-in law and brothers-in law, Aliene and Arlo Sowers, Pauline Pitsinger, William Morgan, Ocie McNeil, Gloria McNeil, Alvin and Betty McNeil, Carl and Ramsey McNeil, and Lois and Ron Sedlacek. Many nieces and nephews also loved him. We especially want to thank Roger and Carolyn Ratcliffe for all they have done for him. Mr. Bob will be greatly missed by his church family at Cedar Springs Union Church, to which he was faithful for over 60 years.

Daddy loved doing things for others, taking care of his farm and cattle, and trading farm machinery. He made friends everywhere he went. His desire was that each of his friends would someday visit with him again in Heaven. Many thanks to all those who visited and prayed during his illness, especially Emory, Judy, and Zoe Altizer.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, VA with Rev. Neal Turner and Rev. Leon Alley. Interment will follow in the Huffville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Riner Rescue Squad or to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth St., Santa Monica, CA 90401 (pcf.org).
