Robert L. Stone

Robert L. Stone, 78 of Christiansburg, VA (formerly of Hudson, MA) passed away on December 19, 2017. He was the son of Leon and Ruth (Hopkins) Stone and was born in Marlboro, MA on June 15, 1939. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert and his brother, Richard. He leaves his wife, Cynthia (Baker) Stone of Christiansburg, VA, his son, Andrew Stone and his wife, Dawn (Smith) of Hope, ME and his daughter, Mairi Padgett and her husband, Justin Padgett of Cullowhee, NC. He leaves five grandchildren, Emma, Elijah and Aaron Stone of Hope, ME, Ellie and Alexander Padgett of Cullowhee, NC and step-granddaughter, Jordan Cote of Hope, ME. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Barbara Stone of Dresher, PA and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob earned his B.A. and M.A. at Northeastern University in Boston, MA and his PhD. at Stirling University in Stirling, Scotland. He worked and taught in the fields of Marine Biology, Computer Technology research at Digital Equipment Corporation and Automotive Components research at Federal Mogul Corporation. He was granted a number of patents for his inventions. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Christiansburg, VA on Saturday January 6, 2018 at 1:00 pm. The Reverend, Dr. Mark Frazier will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the National Kidney Foundation or The Shriner's Hospital for Children.
