On Wednesday August 26, 2020, Rodona Delaine Smock, loving wife, mother of 3 and grandmother of 7, passed away surrounded by her loving family at the age of 73.
She was born June 5, 1947, in Beckley WV and attended High School in Glen Burnie MD. She was married to loving husband, Jack L. Smock Sr. on September 25, 1966, in Glen Burnie MD. She was a retired Wendy’s sales associate and customer service/hospitality leader, a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is the daughter of the late Otuce and Orada Huffman. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Okema and brother, Layton. Loved ones left behind are husband, Jack Smock Sr.; brother, Otuce Huffman Jr.; and children, Jack Jr. and wife Chrisie, Douglas and wife Lois and Tristina and husband Jesse. She has 7 grandchildren, Amanda, Jack III, Curtis, Pat, Blake, Hayden and Laikin.
Rodona had a passion for service. She served God her entire adult life. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Bible School, church camp and had a beautiful strong singing voice that she loved to share. She was a constant witness and loved helping others. She had a heart for making people smile. She served the community of Christiansburg from the Wendys store on the bypass for 17 years. She was known for her quick wit and loving heart and her service with a smile and ensuring everyone left with a smile was her mission.
All services will be at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg VA. The viewing will be on Sunday, August 30, 2020, from 5-7 PM. The Funeral Service will be Monday, August 31, 2020, at 11 AM, with Pastor Matt Brown officiating. The Graveside Service will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
Those desiring to make memorial gifts may send flowers to the funeral home or make a donation to either the Leukemia Foundation or St Jude’s children’s hospital. Friends and family are welcome, however, due to COVID masks are required.
