Roger Dean Newby

Roger Dean Newby, 71, of Christiansburg, passed away November 18, 2016.

Roger loved the outdoors whether it be working on projects around the house or being with friends having a beer.  He was very proud of his gun and coin collections, and enjoyed antique cars and trucks. He most enjoyed walking with his granddaughters in the woods to feed the deer.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Posey and Hazel Newby of Christiansburg; brother, Roy L. Newby of Pearisburg; and several aunts and uncles.  He is survived by his lifelong partner, Cora East; son, Roger D. Newby and wife, Trish; granddaughter, Karleigh Newby; adopted granddaughter, Jessica Scarberry and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Horne Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Rhudy officiating.  Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
