Rogers Franklin Lambert passed away January 23, 2025. He was born July 12, 1929, at home in Kamas, Utah. He was the oldest child of Frank and Thora Lambert. As a great storyteller he spoke often and fondly of his parents and his small-town depression upbringing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years and high school sweetheart, Adele Marchant and by his son-in-law Warren McBride. He is survived by his four children Suzanne, Brent, Reed and Kathryn and their spouses Amanda, Jessica, and Jim. His children remember him as someone who supported them in all their activities and instilled in them a love of learning.
He finished a PhD in organic chemistry at Purdue University. After a short career working in industry, he became a professor in the chemistry department at Radford College in 1965. He taught there for over 30 years. He was known as a student’s teacher. His office was often filled with students; discussing chemistry, career choices and life in general.
He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. With the birth of his first grandchild, he became “Papa.” Despite all his other accomplishments, this seemed to be his greatest life calling. Papa and Grandma could always be found at their grandchildren’s events, both big and small.
He will be missed by all, but his life lessons and example will affect our family for generations to come. A family celebration of life will be planned later.
