In 1976 he became the owner-operator of Pilot Mountain Grocery in Pilot, VA. Even though his illness forced his official retirement from the store in 2000, he continued to make the trip to the mountain and greet customers in the early morning hours until four weeks ago. Being at the "Store" was a job that he never referred to as work. It was something that he looked forward to each and every day. A special thank you goes to the staff at Pilot Mountain Grocery for all of their love and support. Ronnie was a lover of life, and the outdoors and throughout his illness he never let it get him down, always remaining positive and kept everyone uplifted that he came in contact with. He has touched so many lives and we are all comforted in his courage and spirit. Ronnie always had a smile on his face and an encouraging word to share. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church.
