On Sunday November 15, 2015, Rose Sharon Shomaker, 61, of Christiansburg, took her journey home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus after a 2 year battle with ALS.
Born in Christiansburg, Va, on February 22, 1954, she is survived by her loving father and mother, Marshall and Macel Stone; her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Sowers; her granddaughter, Alesha Sharp and great-granddaughter, Chloey Sharp; granddaughters, Amber Sowers and Mikayla Sowers; her husband and step-son, Dennis Randall Shomaker and Scott Shomaker; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Teresa Stone with nieces, Jennifer Stone and Emily Stone and great nieces, Chelsey and Zoie; brother and nephew, Willy Stone and Tyler Stone and great nephew, Tipton Stone; sister, Kim McDaniel with niece, Tara Harris and great niece, Savannah Harris; niece and nephew-in-law, Brandy and Matt Moses with great nieces, Alyssa Bland and Mia Moses. Sharon is also leaving behind her beautiful Church Family at Bible Baptist Church, precious co-workers at Hubble Lighting, and countless friends.
A special thank you to "Sharon's Angels", all at the UVA ALS clinic in Charlottesville Va. and special team with Amedisys Hospice Care Angy, Sara, Jewel, and Marcy who helped guide us every step of the way. And our precious CNA, Heather Conner, who spent many nights alone comforting and caring for our angel.
ALS is a brutal, unfair disease that takes away so much but Sharon was determined it was not going to take her spirit, her faith or her heart. During her precious life, she taught not only her family but all those who knew her faith, love, forgiveness, patience, ultimately how to live and not just survive. ALS may have taken her body, it couldn't touch her spirit.
She was our angel living and now our guardian angel in heaven. She filled our lives with so much love and laughter and there won't be a day that goes by that we will not miss you. Fly high gorgeous, we love you beyond what words can say.
There will be a visitation at Horne Funeral Home, Tuesday November 17, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church, with Pastor Kenneth Wells officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Sharon and "Sharon's Angels" request donations be made to the ALS Association in her honor to ALS Gift Processing, Center PO Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
