Rosie Winfrey Tomlinson, of Christiansburg, born on May 13, 1920, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2016.
Rosie departed this life for a far better place with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Ada and Silas Howell; her husband, Samuel J. Tomlinson; son, James Eddie Tomlinson; half-sister, Barbara Howell Aldridge; and grandson, Thomas Tomlinson. Rosie is survived by her daughter, Norma Carroll (Wilson); son, Samuel J. Tomlinson Jr. (Carol); grandchildren, Matthew Carroll (Teresa), Zach Tomlinson (Erin), Jeff Tomlinson, R. J. Tomlinson (Taryn), Jennifer Wittman (Doug); great-grandchildren, Lynette Carroll, Connor and Audrey Wittman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and employees of Kroontje Health Care as well as Good Samaritan Hospice, for all their loving care and concern for our dear mother.
Rosie was an active member of many organizations including the McDaniel #47 Eastern Star, Montgomery Regional Hospital Volunteers, Christiansburg Canasta Club, Christiansburg Women’s Club, Christiansburg Rescue Squad Auxillary, but most of all she loved her church and church family at GraceLife (formerly Main Street) Baptist Church. To know Rosie was to love her. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Neal Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christianburg.
