Carner, Ruby Lee Rush, 87, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis W. Carner, her mother and father, Frank and Nellie Payne Rush; stepmother Rheba C. Rush, and her sisters, Louise R. Linkous, Treva R. Miles and Frances R. Williams. She was a long-time employee of Leggett’s Dept. Store. She was a member of Christiansburg Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her sisters, Wilma Chafin (Bob), Greensboro, NC, Doris Martin, Riner, VA, Ella Ruth Hutchins, Christiansburg, VA, and Shirley Adkins (Bob), Ferrum, VA, and brothers-in-law, Fred L. Williams, Jr., Christiansburg, VA, and Turk Miles, Martinsville, VA. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Bobby Linkous, Fairlawn, VA, Darlene Shepherd, Ross Linkous, both of Christiansburg, VA, Lee Ann Fuller, Martinsville, VA, Fred Williams III, Blountville, TN, Ben Williams, Christiansburg, VA, Steve and David Chafin, Greensboro, NC, Gary Chafin, Roanoke, VA, Jimmy Martin, Lori Mitcham both of Riner, VA, Greg Hutchins, Christiansburg, VA, Clay Adkins, Ferrum, VA and Aaron Adkins, Rutherfordton, NC. There are also numerous great nieces, nephews and friends.
Services are scheduled for 12 noon on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Horne Funeral Home with Rev. Don Makin and Rev. Everett Shepherd officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service from 10 a.m.-12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Christiansburg Presbyterian Church or charity of your choice.
