Ruby Ann Creasy Graham of Christiansburg went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 11, 2013. She was at home with her sons present.
She was born in Christiansburg, VA, on September 21, 1932, to the late Fred Lawrence and Lilian Woods Creasy. She graduated from Christiansburg High School where she was a cheerleader and worked at Hercules for five years until her first son was born. Ruby was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and frequently kept the nursery during services. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. Most of all, she enjoyed her little animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Graham; and sister, Nora Lee Thompson. Survivors include her two sons, Robert Lee Graham Jr. and fiancée Patsy Wright, and Richard Neil Graham and wife Teresa Gallagher; grandson, Michael Gallagher; great-grandsons, Demetrius and Markus Gallagher; sister, Elizabeth Henderson; sister-in-law, Nancy Graham; special nieces, Wanda Basham and Brenda Jones; several nieces and nephews; as well as her beloved companions, “Noah and Josh”, and a special memory of her beloved “Peppy”.
The family expresses special thanks to her wonderful friends, Peggy Chafin (her lifelong friend in mischief), Daniel Musselman, Ralph Reed, and Mark Sawyer. A special thank you to Dr. Harry McCoy, Dr. Michael Conaster, Dr. Michael Payne, Dr. Glenn Young; caregivers, Jane Akers, Rose Martin, Cindy Webster; and hospice care nurses, Mary Evans, Lydia Brown, and Darlene Edwards. Thank you Zelma Graham for the best caramel cakes ever made.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 14, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Doug Kanney officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
