Ruby Trump Sowers, 80, of Pilot, VA, went into her Saviors arms surrounded by her loving family after losing her battle with Alzheimer’s on October 25, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her father, Freeman Trump; her mother, Ethel Trump, both of Pilot, VA; and her son, Joey Sowers, of Alexandria, VA. Ruby is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joe Sowers of Pilot; daughter, Brenda Dickerson of Alexandria, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Jay Burdett of Portal, GA; sister and brother-in-law, John and Louise Hutchins; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Wanda Trump, all of Pilot; grandchildren, Daven Loy (Michelle Straus) of Radford, VA, Joe Loy (Shannon) of Front Royal, VA, Dan Loy (Danielle) of Bristow, VA, Taylor Davie of San Antonio, TX, Ashley Couey (Russell) of Cape Girardeau, MO; as well as ten great-grandchildren.
She was a loving wife, mother, and granny. Ruby retired after 25 years from Fairfax County Schools as a food service worker. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing. Ruby was a member for 23 years of The First Church of the Nazarene in Christiansburg.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 4-6 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leon Alley and Pastor Rick Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Huffville Cemetery, Pilot.
