Wood, Ruby Hixon, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at her home in Christiansburg, VA.
Preceded in death by her parents William Harrison and Mackie Moore Hixon, as well as her husband, Luther Lee Wood. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Harvey, Helen Sutherland, Hazel Taylor, Lucille Bateman and Barbara Thompson; two brothers, Junior Hixon and Sam Hixon.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Clinton Slusher, Christiansburg, VA; two grandsons, Wesley Slusher and wife, Terri and Darrin Slusher, Christiansburg, VA; three great-grandchildren, Caitlin Slusher, Ashlee Slusher, and Mason Slusher, of Christiansburg; sister, Erma Frierson, Baltimore, MD; brothers, Ruben Hixon, James Hixon, David Hixon, all of Christiansburg, Kenneth Hixon, Baltimore, MD; and a special friend, Lora Slusher.
She was a member of the Christiansburg Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at Horne Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers family request donations be sent to Christiansburg Baptist Church, 2895 Roanoke St. S.E., Christiansburg, VA.
