UNDERWOOD, RUTH HYLTON, age 92, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 28, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband Howard Underwood, son, Fred Underwood, grandson, Jeffrey Handy and great grandson, Richard Duncan Byrd, IV.
Surviving are her daughters, Rebecca and Jimmy Thomas, Radford, VA, Julia and Jay Christopher, Katy, TX, daughter-in-law, Anne Underwood, Walkertown, NC; grandchildren, Richard D. Byrd, III, Greenville, SC, Tracy Rains, Raleigh, NC, Todd Underwood, Atlanta, GA, Drew Underwood, Walkertown, NC, Neil Underwood, Walkertown, NC, Stephanie Scardino, Katy, TX; great grandchildren, McKinley Rains, Jordan Rains, Justin Byrd, Zachery Byrd, Toby Underwood, Andrew Scardino.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Horne Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at the graveside in the Mt. View Cemetery, Meadows of Dan, VA with Rev. Chuch McHose officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 220 West Main Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073 or the Alzeimer's Association, 2728 Colonial Avenue, Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24015.
