Ruth Sharrett Yount, 99, of Blacksburg, VA, fondly known as “Sharri” has departed this temporary life on Monday, August 1, 2011, at 12:30 a.m.
Sharri was born in Washington County, VA, on September 21, 1911. She lived with her family later on a dairy farm in Manassas, VA, and later in Auburdale, FL, where she graduated from high school. She graduated from William & Mary College in 1933.
She moved from West Palm Beach, FL, to Showalter in November, 2001, where she lived until moving to Kroontje Health Care in May, 2010.
Sharri was predeceased in death by her husband, Fred Yount, in 1989; her brother Ralph Sharrett and juvenile brother, Walter Sharrett.
A private service is planned at the cemetery at Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church in Bristol, VA, where her parents and family are buried.
Sharri leaves a legacy of sweetness and kindness. She always saw the positive in circumstances and said “it could be worse”. She never complained about her life of impairment the last ten years.
The family expresses gratitude to the fantastic nursing staff, both at Showalter and specially the special care at Kroontje. The loving embrace of care to Sharri by Amedysis and the nursing staff (too many names to mention) was deeply appreciated by her family.
