Samuel Henderson Caldwell

Samuel Henderson Caldwell, 69, peacefully stepped into the gates of Glory on January 5th, 2025 after a long hard fight with Parkinson’s disease.

He was the first born to Samuel Richard and Annie Howard Caldwell on August 25, 1955, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Samantha Dawn Caldwell and his beloved pup Gracie, his in-laws, Arleine (Rex) Taylor and William (Matilda) Gallagher, his maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sam loved to help people and was always a blessing to others. His passions were hunting, working on computers and later burning Christian music CDs to share with everyone. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was always telling people how Great God was.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 36 years, Kelley Caldwell, and his sons: Robert Jason Caldwell (Latrice), Dayton McCoy Poff, Samuel Steven Caldwell (Mary), and Joshua Lee Caldwell (Whittney). Grandchildren: Alexis Agee, Zachary Caldwell, Matthew Caldwell, Gabriel Caldwell, Jaden Bishop, Emma Carroll, Adeline Caldwell, Joshua Jr. Caldwell, Samuel McKenzie Caldwell, Mayzlin Caldwell, Emerson Caldwell, Kaine Moede, and Kage Moede and one great granddaughter, Avery Agee. Brothers: Michael (Lois) Caldwell, Victor Caldwell, Glenn Dale Caldwell, and Phillip (Marsha) Caldwell. Sisters: Teresa (Gene) Woolwine, and Marcella Kay (Donnie) Lytton. Brother in-law Shawn (Debbie) Gallagher and Sister in-law Katherine (Robert) Maurer. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his pets, Elsa, Anna, Kali, and Tommy Tom, and a multitude of friends he considered family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Service.  Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Danny Whitlock officiating.   Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Local USW Union Hall, 3125 N Franklin St., Christiansburg.
