Samuel Johnston

June 2, 1988 — January 10, 2008

Johnston, Samuel Charles, 19, of Salem went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Jan. 10th due to injuries from an automobile accident.

He is survived by his parents, Rev. & Mrs. Michael Johnston, of Salem, VA; one sister, April Craig, of Christiansburg; and 2 brothers, Aaron and Philip Johnston, both of Salem. He is also survived by his grandparents, Wayne and Doris Watson, of Spencer, NC, Ron and Barbara Butts of Sparta, NC, Carolyn Wagner, of Salisbury, NC, and a very special set of adoptive grandparents, Bob and Myrtle Bowen, of Max Meadows, VA.

Sam was a graduate of Dayspring Christian Academy and active in the youth group at Open Door Baptist Church. He was loved by all who knew him and was known for his wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed and his smile will forever be in our memories.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12th at Horne Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13th at the Open Door Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Myron Powell, Pastor Rodney Cox, and Pastor Michael Johnston. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 14th in the Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury, NC conducted by Pastor Steve Holshouser. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Open Door Baptist Church Youth Group, P.O. Box 2524, Christiansburg, VA 24068 . Sam’s favorite verse was Rev. 21:4
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away”
