BROWN, SHELBY JEAN ROBERTS, age 57, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord January 25, 2005 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.
She was a long time member of the Christiansburg Pentecostal Holiness Church, with a passion for singing gospel music. She was a member of the Jubliee Singers for many years and served in many capacities in the church. She was a retired educator.
She was born July 21st, 1947 at Gary, WV to Irvin and Hannah Kennedy Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Delores Ann Roberts, Reba Mabry and Geraldine Beheler; brothers, Irvin Roberts, Jr. and Harm ?Pete? Roberts.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie Brown of Christiansburg; daughters, Patricia Wiggins and husband, Eddie of Cocoa, FL; Melissa Poff and husband, Randy of Narrows, VA; son, Larry Bailey of Morgantown, WV; step-son, Keith Brown of Rocky Mount, VA; grandchildren, Eric Godfrey and Cassandra Wiggins of Cocoa, FL; Melissa and Marcus Poff of Narrows, VA; brother, James Nelson Roberts and wife, Carletta of Wellington, KY; sisters, Lynn McPeak and husband, Roger of Waynesville, NC; Veronica ?Bonnie? Toney of Crumpler, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Kingrea officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Bluewell, WV. The Brown Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, VA, (382-2612).
