Shirley Gwinn Downs

Shirley Gwinn Downs, 84, of Shawsville, passed away on April 27, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Othor Dolphin and Gladys Skaggs Gwinn; husband, Rodney Guy Downs; and siblings, Gwendolyn Marrs, Betty Seldomridge, and Vernon Gwinn.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Rosalie Gwinn Jurisson; sons, Jeffrey Downs (Melissa) of Riner, Jim Downs (Kris) of Michigan; grandchildren, Shannon Downs (Adam Bishop) and Adam Downs; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.
Shirley was a member of DAR as well as Christiansburg Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also a member of the Weavers Guild. She was the owner of Shirley’s Frame Shop. After graduating Radford High School she attended Radford College.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021, from 10-11 a.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at noon in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Don Makin officiating.
