WOOLWINE, SIDNEY J., 70, of Christiansburg went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 22, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sidney was a retired employee from General Electric and a member of Faith Christian Church. He was an avid golfer and a 45 year member of Round Meadow Country Club.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roy F. and Bessie Gearheart Woolwine; sisters, Frances Thompson and Barbara Adkins. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Scottie Blair Woolwine; brother, Roger L. (Brenda) Woolwine; sisters, Iris (Charles) Hunter and Judy (Jim) Kerr; brother-in-law, Wayne Adkins; sister-in-law, Sue Dodson; brother-in-law, Andy (Connie) Blair. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and neighbors.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 23 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at Faith Christian Church with Rev. Clyde George and Otto Conley officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Faith Christian Church, 1125 Roanoke Street; Christiansburg, VA 24073.
