STELLA HAMILTON HOWELL, 97, of Blacksburg, VA, passed away on June 29, 2011.
Stella was a 1936 graduate of The Alice Lloyd College at Pippa Passes, KY. She taught school in Floyd County, KY, and for a short time was the Postmaster at East McDowell, KY. In 1956 she returned to teaching in New Carlisle, OH, until her retirement in 1971.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Evert Howell; her parents, Emit & Virgie Hamilton.
She is survived by her son, Gorman Howell & wife, Jane of Salem, VA, daughter, Bobbie Adiklis of Parkersburg, WV, son, Jerry Howell & wife Diane of New Carlisle, OH, daughter, Dotty Sanders & husband, Roy, of Auburn, CA; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Stella’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Showalter Assisted Living Center and to her many friends at Showalter for their devotion and kindness over the last 8 years.
The family would also like to express their appreciation to the Snyder Nursing Home in Salem, VA, for their kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Warm Hearth Center, 1000 Litton Lane, Blacksburg, VA 24060-6399.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
