Steven Eugene Hungate

Steven Eugene Hungate, age 53, passed away on February 12, 2023 after his recent battle with cancer. Steven was a free spirited soul who never knew a stranger. His personality was larger than life and his energy was simply unmatched. He never judged and would’ve given the shirt off his back to anyone who needed him. He was the hardest working man, from owning his own construction and roofing companies, to his final years with his family at Interlude Home. He was a proud father, a loving son and brother, and the best friend you could ever ask to be in your corner. He will be missed forever.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Shelton; father, Samuel Hungate Sr.; step father, Earnest ‘Poochy’ Woody; and his love, Shannon Montgomery.
Steven is survived by his daughters, Kayla Hungate, Karlee Hungate, and Ciara Hungate; son, Gage Akers; brother, Samuel Hungate Jr.; sisters, Renee Hair and Angela Link; grandsons, Michael Devore and Hunter Shepard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who he considered family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16 from 5 to 6 at Horne Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow in the chapel at 6 p.m. with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating.
