VERNON, SUE WEAVER, of Riner, VA passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Skyline Manor Nursing Home in Floyd.
Mrs. Vernon was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers. She is survived by one brother, W. Scott Weaver and wife, Ruth, Christiansburg; five nieces and three nephews, Fed. Judge Cindy Weaver, Florence, AL, Dr. W. Scott Weaver and wife, Ann, Roanoke,Virginia Rippe and husband, Jim, Manassas, Peggy Sisson and husband, Mort, Andy Weaver and wife, Becky all of Hopewell, James and Vicky Weaver, Fairfax; and Mary Weaver of Clintwood, VA; sisters-in-law, Mrs. John Weaver, Chester, VA, Mrs. James Weaver, Fairfax.
Mrs. Vernon was an active member of Auburn United Methodist Church until her recent illness. She was treasurer of the church, and of the Auburn Charge for several years, also past president of the United Methodist Women. A member and past Worthy Matron of McDaniel Chapter O.E.S, past member of Hamilton D. Wade Chapter V.D.C. Mrs. Vernon retired from the Montgomery County Treasurer’s Office with well over 30 years of service.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, March 27. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 27, in the Horne Funeral Chapel with Dr. Carl Collins and Mr. George Guilliams officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
