Rev. Theado Edward Simmons Sr., 85, of Elliston went home to be with the Lord December 23, 2022. He started working in a barber shop and retired with the railroad. In between he also farmed, tinkered in his garage, worked with his sawmill, and was a minister throughout his community and in local nursing homes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Berkley and Evelyn Simmons; son, Ronnie Caldwell; 3 brothers, Chauncey, Willis, and Richard brother-in-law, Eugene Waid; and special friend, Bill Ford.
Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Christine Simmons; children, Rebecca Jackson; Theado Edward Simmons Jr. “Buck” and wife, Mitzi; Crystal Labyzon and husband, Pete; Jerry Caldwell and wife, Patty; grandchildren, Andy and wife, Sara; Michael; Brian; Brad and wife, Chelsey; Ron and, Mariah; Zachary, Mackenlee and Logan; and Chenita; special great grandchildren that lived next door to him, Bradley and Amayah; and other great grandchildren, Victor, Delante, Emily and Andrew; brothers, James and wife, Diane; Berkley Jr. and wife, Vivian; sisters, Hazel and husband, Jerome; and Ruby; sisters-in-law; Louise, Anna, and Sarah; special friend, Robert Wooten; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28 at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 29 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Vivian Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Burton Family Cemetery.
