Thelma Waldron Musselman

March 22, 1943 — November 26, 2022

On November 26, 2022, Thelma Waldron Musselman, loving MawMaw, friend and avid spoiler of all things small passed away at the age of 79.
Thelma (who was born and raised in the New River Valley to the late Charles & Laura Waldron. She enjoyed playing in the woods and being mischievous with her 2 sisters, niece and brother (who also preceded her in death), Frances Waldron Roop, Martha Waldron Davidson, Patricia Spangler Dickens and Charles Waldron Jr.
Thelma then went on to meet and marry the love of her life, Walter Ashley Musselman. They built a wonderful life together and even managed to take in a feral child later on, her great-niece (daughter) Sabrina Davidson-Ratcliffe.
After her husband’s passing in 1993, Thelma continued working at Federal Mogul. She also cared for her Mother and Brother in her home until their passing.
She was an incredibly hard worker that knew how to use her financial knowledge. With that skill set, she was able to retire early from where she was a Quality Control Manager for many years. Leaving many good friends such as Zula Saul, and Spencer Winfrey.
Thelma’s love transformed the lives of everyone she encountered. She brought a bounty of beauty to everything she did…with her cooking, her smile, her gardening skills and unbounded sense of humor. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share herself and evoke that same spirit of love in each person she knew.
After her retirement she was able to concentrate on what brought her immense happiness, her grandchildren.
Kelly and Logan Davidson could do absolutely no wrong in their Mawmaws eyes. She honestly believed they hung the Moon & Stars. And she would have given it to them if they had asked.
A few years later, 2 more grandchildren joined the family. Landon and Kendall Ratcliffe brought her so much joy and contentment. She absolutely loved these two babies with every fiber of her soul. She guarded all of them with a fierceness, and she will continue to do so.
The family would like to thank everyone that has helped us during this incredibly difficult time. Without your help, we would not have been able to endure this. Thank you to Terry and Nicole Ratcliffe, Megan Summers, Andrew Reece, Courtney Harris.
Also much appreciation to everyone that called or texted. It did not go unnoticed.
Thelma is survived by great-niece (daughter), Sabrina Davidson-Ratcliffe (Terry Ratcliffe); grandchildren, Kelly Davidson, Logan Davidson (Cory Livingston), Landon Ratcliffe, Kendall Ratcliffe; Regina Harris, Courtney Harris, Christine Stone, dear friends Mamie & Elmer Hall, Edna Mae Robertson; and numerous cousins and extended family.
The family asks that at time of visitation, instead of offering traditional condolences please share a moment with us that stands out in your memory of our MawMaw. We would absolutely love to hear your memories of growing up, working with, or being friends with her.
Visitation is Friday, December 2, 2022, from noon to 1 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
