Woods, Thelma Pauline (Lovern), 96, of Christiansburg, VA, was taken in the arms of angels to be with her heavenly Father on July 10, 2011.
She was born in Mullens, WV, on September 24, 1914 and raised in the Roanoke area and was the eldest of 5 girls.
Thelma was the wife of the late Earl M. Woods of Pearisburg, VA. They lived in Hopewell, VA and Augusta GA for most of their marriage. They moved back to Christiansburg in 1972 where Thelma remained after losing her beloved Earl in 1974. In August of 2000, she moved to Edgewater Park NJ to share her life with her surviving devoted daughter & husband, Nancy & Richard Leyh.
Thelma is survived by granddaughter, Kristina & her husband, Rich Zaleski; great-grandchildren, Jacob & Kimberlee; grandson, Richard Earl and Tammy Leyh; great-grandchildren, Grace Madeline Abigail & step-great-grandchildren, Baily and Devon Yanci, all of NJ; daughter, Connie Lynn of CA; and sister, Aileen Gilmore of Christiansburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, P O Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 10:00 am at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, with the funeral to follow at 11:00 am at the Horne Chapel, with Pastor Jim Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
