Thomas Lawrence Hansen, 47, of Pilot, passed away at home on Monday August 19, 2013, due to complications from renal failure.
Tom was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on July 18, 1967, to the late William A. Hansen Jr. and the late Claire Helen Dever Hansen. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William H. ‘Bill’ Hansen III.
He is survived by his sister, Catherine Cook and husband David; his brother, Gerry Hansen and wife Claudia, and his sister-in-law Connie Hansen. Tom had several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, Billy and wife Kathryn, Ryan, Jennifer, Brian, Ileana, and Natalie; as well as his great nephew, William; and great niece, Claire Belle. Tom also left behind very special friends, Robert and Deseray Bugg; and he will be greatly missed by his good friends Robert and Onita Bugg, David and Janet Mathis, Susie and Amanda Roop, and Phil,Vicky, and Laura Beth Gillespie.
Tom worked for Carilion Clinic as a Database Reporting Analyst from 1998 to 2011. Tom touched so many lives. He was talented and smart. His great sense of humor kept everyone laughing. His positive outlook was inspiring. He lived life to the fullest, and tried new things. He was always learning new things and if he wanted to know you he went right up and introduced himself. He loved each day God gave him.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 pm, Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. A service will be held at 2 pm following the visitation.
