AKERS, THURMAN LINDSEY, age 66, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord suddenly on Friday, September 29, 2006 at his home.
He was a member of Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as Deacon, and was an employee of Federal Mogul. The son of the late Edward M. and Rose Fields Akers he was also preceded in death by brothers, Sidney, Lee and Lloyd Akers.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Smith Akers; sons and daughters-in-law, Lindsey Nelson & Vicki Akers, Toby Joe and Tammy Akers; grandchildren, Shane Matthew Akers, Allison Lindsay Akers, and ?TJ? Toby Joe Akers, Jr.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Stuart Franklin, Roanoke, Alvie Linkous, Hazel Hinkley, Edith Cromer all of Blacksburg, Lillian and Doug Revis, Winston-Salem, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, John David and Christal Akers, Germany, William Bentley and Bonnie Akers, Giles.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Saturday at the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 1st at the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church conducted by Rev. Jerry Shepherd, Rev. Jube Burk and Mr. Darrell Linkous with interment to follow in the Smith Family Cemetery.
