Long, Trixie Wiley, 60, of Radford, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 6, 2010. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend.
For 19 years she worked as a special education instructional aide in Montgomery County elementary schools. She was also an active member of Belmont Christian Church.
Trixie was born in Sinks Grove, WV, and was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Lois Wiley, and two brothers, Gene and Nace Wiley.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Sonny of Radford; her son, John and daughter-in-law Nicole of Radford, and her daughter, Tammy and son-in-law Eric Dunkum of Chesterfield, VA, and her four grandchildren: Hannah, Beth, Jed, and Kate. She is also survived by her brothers, Joe Wiley and sister-in-law Genevieve of Roncerverte, WV and Charlie and sister-in-law Theresa Wiley of Covington, VA, and her sisters, Edna Mae Burwell of Sinks Grove, WV, Rhonda and brother-in-law, Claude Hylton of White Sulpher Springs, WV and Polly and brother-in-law Freddy Plunkett of Seiverville, TN. She was also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lyndall Wiley of Princeton, WV and Audrey Wiley of Covington, VA.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 8, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Belmont Christians Church officiated by Pastor Jerry Dowdy, Pastor Jim Bayne, and Pastor Brandon Craig. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations made in Trixie’s honor go to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Rd. Suite # 106 A, Roanoke, VA 24018 ( www.cancer.org ) or to the Belmont Christian Church Vision Fund, 2149 Dominion Dr., Christiansburg, VA 24073.
