Wallace Scott

September 15, 1931 — June 24, 2007

SCOTT, Wallace (Wally) Gray, 75, of Christiansburg, born on September 15, 1931, passed away early Sunday morning, June 24, 2007 at Montgomery Regional Hospital after a long battle with lymphoma.

He was a former State Trooper and retired from General Electric in Salem, Virginia. He was also a Veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, Iva and Kahle Scott, a brother, Arnold Ray Scott and an infant twin daughter; Karen Lea Scott.

He is survived by his wife of 52 plus years, Barbara D. Scott of Christiansburg, a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Joe Engle of Greenville, SC, and a son Michael Gray Scott of Pilot, VA., also three grandsons, Devin Gray Scott, Brian Lee Gibbs, both of Christiansburg and Joshua Allen Scott of Outer Banks, NC and a great grand-son, Ethan Gray Lytton. Also a sister, Althea Ann Scott Bailey of Radford, VA. Wally was a faithful member of Faith Christian Church in Christiansburg and looked forward to worshiping there before he became so ill. He was a member of the Christiansburg Recreation Department and enjoyed shooting pool with his senior friends there. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish before he became so ill. He had a long-time hobby of recycling golf balls and sold thousands to many residents in the surrounding area. The family would like to thank Dr. Harry McCoy and his staff for all of their kindnesses and love, and also to all the nurses on 2nd Floor P.C.U. who were so attentive to all of Wally?s and the family?s needs.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 25, 2007 from 5 ? 8 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home and the funeral will be held at Faith Christian Church, 305 Phlegar Street in Christiansburg, VA at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 conducted by his minister, Mr. Clyde George, with interment following in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations be sent to Faith Christian Church of Christ, P.O. Box 2117, Christiansburg, VA 24068 in Wallace?s memory.
