Walter Gray Woolwine, 89, of Christiansburg went to be with his Lord peacefully in his home Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was retired after many years with Federal Mogul and served his Country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was the beloved son of the late Trigg and Alma W. Woolwine. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, James, William and Garnett; and sisters, June Bland and Edna Cain.
He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 58 years, Barbara Hall Woolwine; his "girls", Sandra Paterson (John), Kimberly McKittrick (Steve), and Dolores Woolwine; proud Paw-Paw to Jamie Criner (Matt), Casey and Cody Smith, Chase, Holly and Will McKittrick; Great-Paw-Paw to Caden, Kylie, Macie and Lily. Also surviving are his brother, Cecil (Ann) Woolwine; sister, Virginia "Priss" Johnson; special nephew, Wayne Woolwine; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norman Hall, Linda Lyons, Becky McMahan (Vance), Debra Custer (Red); and very special family friend, Becky Smith.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers that spent time and cared for our ‘Main Man’, Marie and Belinda from Gentivia and Ashley, Colleen, Kim and Lori from Good Samaritan Hospice.
The family will hold a celebration of life privately. To honor his life we suggest a quiet country drive, a day at home with loved ones or enjoying watching the Hokies as a way of to pay tribute to Walter.
