Wanda Mae Hale

Wanda Mae Hale passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the age of 61 after a short courageous battle with cancer. Wanda Mae is preceded in death by her parents, John and Wanda Dickerson, and sister/best friend, Judy Dickerson, all of Floyd County, VA. Wanda Mae is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years Vergil Hale, and son, Daniel Hale, both of Floyd County, VA; sisters, Belinda Alderman of Floyd County, VA, Nana Miller (Ivan) of Radford, VA, and Deborah Dickerson (Dale) of Dunbar, WVA; brother Richard Dickerson (Debbie) of Floyd County, VA; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great great nephews, and a great great niece, all of whom she loved dearly. Wanda Mae was a longtime employee of Hills Department Store in Christiansburg, VA where she made many lifelong friendships. After leaving Hills, Wanda Mae worked for 20 years and retired from Sanico in Christiansburg, VA. Wanda Mae enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will forever be remembered as a kind, thoughtful and compassionate person who had a passion for not only people, but also animals. She will be missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 and a private memorial family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Floyd County Humane Society.
