Wanna Hall Thomas, 87, of Blacksburg, VA, passed away on August 20, 2013, in the loving care of her family. She was born in Floyd, VA, on May 26, 1926, to the late Leonard and Josie Hall. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Thomas, Jr.; 6 sisters; and 4 brothers.
She is survived by a brother, Lloyd Hall and wife Lucille; daughters, Nancy Jarrell and husband Larry, and Josie Bishop and husband Mike Gummer, all of Christiansburg; sons, Bruce Thomas and wife Judy, and Chuck Thomas and wife Robin, all of Riner; grandsons, Brian Bishop of Norfolk, Mike Jarrell and wife Erica of Riner, and Dr. Jon Thomas and wife Becca of Riner; granddaughters, Susan Bishop Thomas and husband John of Fayetteville, NC, and Lauren Thomas of Roanoke, VA; 2 step-granddaughters, April Smith-Thomas Samaniego of San Diego, CA, and Sam Johnson of Greenville, SC; step-grandson, Timothy Gummer of Herdon, VA; as well as 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 23, at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Riner, with Pastor Russell Gordon and Dr. Jon Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
