Warren Mays

MAYS, WARREN THOMAS, age 59, of Christiansburg, passed away suddenly at home on April 3, 2007. He was born February 18, 1948 in Appomattox, VA, the son of Clarine Kestner Mays and the late Clarence J. Mays. He was the grandson of the late Theodore R. and Mary M. Kestner and William A. and Margaret R. Mays.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, received a B. S. degree in biology from Virginia Commonwealth University and worked for the Virginia Tech Entomology Dept. for thirty years. Warren loved nature and always enjoyed being outside. He spent many hours reading about nature and early American history. He got his love of gardening and the weather from his parents, and his love of trains from his children.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by Carolan, his wife of 32 years, and their sons, Timothy Daniel, Ryan Scott and Jesse David. He is also survived by several aunts, an uncle and numerous cousins, as well as special friends, Tom & Christie McAvoy, Tom & Ali Wieboldt, Scotty Bolling, Aubrey Neas and Doug Rodgers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phyllis Spiegle officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, honor Warren by taking a walk in the woods, listening to the birds and enjoying the wildflowers.
