Waynard Carr Radford, 72, of Christiansburg, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Arthur and Eunice Goad Radford; brothers, Elza “Bud” Radford and Will Radford; sisters, Mary Nolen and “Tootsie” Akers. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn “Kathy” Kelly; son, Anthony Radford; daughter, Latisha Radford, all of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Chris Radford and Victoria Martin; brothers, Eldred “Shade” Radford, Tom Radford, Bill Radford, and Ray Radford; sisters, Sue Lewis and Penny Vest; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Wayne was the “go to” guy, and jack of all trades. He entertained all with his great stories of boyhood pranks and long distance trucking episodes – transporting the Hubble Space Satelite, Jurassic Park Dinosaurs and Princess Di’s dresses (who knew they spent a night in Merrimac!) Wayne had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. His heart was bigger than his custom built International 18 wheeler matched by his giving spirit. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4, from 6-8 p.m. at Belmont Christian Church, Dominion Drive, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Belmont Christian Church, with Pastor Ersella Alderman officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
